For Teachers and Parents: How to Prepare for the School Year

Event Introduction

We invite you to a talk, “For Teachers and Parents: How to Prepare for the School Year”!

Drawing on 23 years of teaching and his own experience as a father, Gabriel Vigil will share the lessons he has learned about supporting young people and also about taking care of yourself along the way.

We’ll talk about managing expectations, giving yourself room to make mistakes and grow, building habits and routines that actually work, and avoiding the trap of self-criticism. We’ll also explore how teachers and parents can create a supportive environment for young people while giving them the space to make mistakes, become more independent, and find their own path.

Whether you’re a teacher, a parent, or both, come join us for a conversation about how to support the young people in your life while also supporting yourself, and how to thrive rather than simply survive the school year.

About the Speaker

Gabriel Vigil is a veteran educator with more than two decades of classroom experience, a father of three, and the creator of The Classroom Management Guy channel. His teaching journey was not always an easy one. After struggling through his early years in the classroom, Gabriel gradually developed the routines, systems, and practical strategies that helped him become a confident and successful educator.

Today, he shares those lessons through his channel, podcast, and professional presentations, offering common-sense solutions for teachers while drawing on his experiences as both an educator and a parent. Gabriel is passionate about encouraging others by sharing not only what has worked, but also the struggles and lessons that helped shape the teacher he is today.
