Iana Kozhaga talks on her personal journey of exploring Indigenous cultures in the United States and discovering new perspectives on her own cultural identity.
During her exchange in the U.S., Iana had the opportunity to visit the Seneca Nation’s Reservation in Salamanca, New York, and attend an Indigenous cultural festival. She will share her personal experience of encountering Native American communities, reflecting on some of the stereotypes surrounding reservations, and seeing a culture that had previously been familiar to her mostly through books and media.
Through her story, Iana will reflect on what it means to explore another culture while carrying your own, and how this experience can deepen understanding of identity and belonging.
