Event Introduction
This interactive alumni networking session explores the unexpected places careers can lead us: the conversations, opportunities, communities, and experiences that often happen behind the scenes.
Before the event, participants anonymously submit short real-life career stories or surprising professional moments. These are not about formal achievements alone, but about the unusual situations, connections, and experiences that happened because of their work, role, or community involvement.
Examples might include:
“My job once placed me at a dinner table with someone I had only seen on the news before.”
“I was invited to a closed event not because of my experience, but because I represented a community.”
“The most important professional connection in my life happened at an afterparty, not during the official event.”
“One line in my bio opened more doors than twenty sent CVs.”
“I accepted a role that sounded purely formal, and it completely changed my social and professional circle.”
During the session, participants try to guess the field, context, or story behind each anonymous submission before the full story is revealed by the moderator.
The event is designed around career curiosity, personal storytelling, and discovering unexpected points of connection between alumni from very different professional backgrounds. It is also a reminder that careers are often unpredictable and that opportunities, encounters, and experiences we cannot yet imagine may be much closer than we think.
